Shops and establishments registration

Registration under the Shop and Establishment Act is mandatory for all businesses. This Act is governed by the state legislature, and each state has its own set of rules and regulations. Generally, shops, hotels, restaurants, places of public amusement, theaters, and other commercial establishments are required to register under this Act. Businesses covered by this Act must complete their registration within 30 days of starting operations, following the prescribed form and paying the applicable fees.

Following details are necessary to be intimated at the time of applying for registration:

  •  Permanent Account Number (PAN) of establishment
  •  Sale deed or rent agreement

  •  Other relevant details as and when called for

1. When are shops & establishment registration required?

Shop and Commercial Establishment Act applies to all shops, restaurants, eating houses, hotels, theatres, places of public entertainment and amusement and other commercial establishments. All the establishments mentioned above need to register under the Act within 30 days of work commencement.

  • Every business requires a current account for transactions. With shop act, you can open a business current account.
  • Your business is registered under the state government of Delhi.
  • Your business gets legal recognition.
  • Gets certificate in just 1 day process.

Shops are basic premises where goods are sold either by retail or wholesale or where services are rendered.

  • It must be “premises” and
  • It must have some trade, business, or profession being carried on or
  • Any work in connection with or incidental or ancillary to that is carried on

Once all the details are received for registration, the certificate will get 24 hours.

  • The name of the Employer or the manager, if any.
  • The postal address of the establishment
  • The name, if any, of the establishment.
  • Particulars of the employer
  • Permanent account number for establishment
  • Sale deed or rent agreement
  • The establishment category, i.e. whether it is a shop, commercial establishment, residential hotels, restaurants, eating houses, theatres or other places of amusement or entertainment.
